Assignment 3 - HW (30 points) & EC (30 points)
Due: November 30th 2012
Send your completed assignments to: [email protected]
DO NOT SEND ATTACHMENTS. DO NOT SEND BEFORE NOVEMBER 1ST.
Please send the HW and EC in separate emails where possible. For HW you can pick any questions you would like. For EC please do 30 points more (only 60 points worth of work total will be graded). This means you do not have to do every question.
Please split the plaintext up into words instead of leaving it as a huge long string of letters.
The subject of your e-mail should have the following format: CC1 - HW3 - HOL ID (for homework) and CC1 - EC3 - HOL ID (for EC). For example, for my student ID this would read: CC1 - HW3 - ma607 or CC1 - EC3 - ma607
If you require help / further hints as to where to go with the HW feel free to contact me (email/IRC/HOL message). This will not incur a points penalty, however obviously it will take me a bit of time to respond (ideally within a week) - please take this into account when working out if you need an extension :)

Q1. (20 points)
Forum work (Link TBA). As before, decode from the previous post and encode something of your own. Ciphers to use: columnar cipher (make sure you state the keyword) or rail-fence. Please include a link to your post in your e-mail if you choose this question :)
Q2. (20 points)
If you wish you make take part in the forum thread (from Q1) TWICE. However you may not decode your own cipher ;) Please use the other cipher to encrypt the second time (i.e. ifl you used columnar the first time, use rail-fence the second time). Please include a link to your post in your e-mail if you choose this question :)
